As I hit “admit” on Zoom, I saw two huge smiles across my screen. Ya’ll, happiness is contagious, and my smile mirrored theirs.
I think in our initial call, we laughed more than we talked about their wedding photography! This is when you know things are going to be stellar.
About a year and a half after that hour of joy on Zoom getting to know each other, I finally hugged Ashley in the beautiful Hilton Hotel room as she was getting ready to finally marry Christopher. It had been a long time coming.
Ashley, like Christopher, were surrounded by their friends who were equally electric, and brought such a fun, yet calm vibe to their day. It was the kind of energy I want all day, every day:-)
But there was something incredibly extraordinary about this day..
Ashley and Christopher were getting married at St. John’s Parish Church. Apart from this church being one of the most beautiful historical sites on the island, this place held a special place for them. Not only did Ashley’s parents get married at this very church, but her grandparents did as well. Her grandparents are no longer with us, but they were laid to rest at the church. But the connection to this church was even stronger. Ashley, along with her parents and grandparents were all christened at this church. This is history. This is their story. Can you imagine how emotional this was for her family? (spoiler alert: there were lots of tears)
It was absolutely beautiful.
We headed back to the beachside of the Hilton and had a BLAST creating beautiful portraits of this gem of a pair before we headed back to some of the most heartwarming speeches.
Ashley and Christopher, thank you for welcoming me into your day, and your life.
I will forever be grateful…
