Because I love you, I’ve got some advice for you… ♥️
Before you roll your eyes, and say: “yah, i know this, especially coming from a photographer”..
Hear me out.
On Thursday night I traveled for a 48 hour trip to Trinidad to say goodbye to my aunt.
When we got the news, and had time to process it, the first thing we did as a family was gather photographs of the beautiful soul who never stopped smiling.
You see, it’s easy to go through life and being shy and not wanting to have your photo taken for whatever reason.
Here are a few I’ve heard from my own family & clients:
♀️ “I never look good in photos”
♀️ “Lemme lose some weight first”
♀️ “I’ve got nothing to wear”
♀️ “I look old”
♀️ “I look silly in pictures”
♀️ “I just woke up”
♀️ “I can’t pose”
♀️ “I don’t want to be on social media”
And the list goes on and on
But here’s the thing..
No matter how we “think” we look in photos, we will ALWAYS be beautiful to the people who love us the most.
The most precious things about us are our sillies, our quirks, our bedhead, our morning face, our body changes, our wrinkles, our smiles, our dance moves…
We need to be photographed and learn to roll with it, and be ok with it.
Because photographs are not just for us, they’re for our families, and for those who aren’t here yet.
BACK TO THAT FREE ADVICE
✔️ Don’t turn away when your kid, partner, spouse, parent, or friend wants to take a photo of you. They are LITERALLY telling you how important you are to them. Don’t let them down.
✔️Every time some negative self-talk comes to your mind when the camera comes out, laugh and say “who really gives a shit anyway!” (literally laugh, look up to the sky and say it!)

Hey, I’m Aniya (Ah-Knee-Ya) – the ultimate empath and storyteller.
That’s a weird combo, isn’t it?
Kind of, but not really.
I have strong feelings about pretty much everything. And because of this, I know the value of a moment that needs to be photographed.
My clients have coined me a “Connection specialist”, and I’ll happy take that.
Whether I’m photographing your wedding, your family, or your awesome self in my studio, I’m feeling your feels, and making damn honest, beautiful photographs for you.

Tattoos are my timeline. I play tennis, read vehemently, and travel the world. Sensual, empathetic, ex-criminologist, pretty good Italian speaker. Slightly irreverent. Terrified of white lizards and frogs. Kids and elders are my storytellers.
Dancing is joy; justice is non-negotiable.
