Okay, let’s be real, lugging around a DSLR can be a major pain. And let’s not even talk about the post-shoot editing marathon. No thanks!
Let me just say this at the outset – the best camera is the one you have on you. If it’s a “big” camera, or a phone, use it. The moment trumps the machine.
When my girls were young, we didn’t have phones made for photo taking, so all of my early photographs of my girls are from my DSLR.
But now? The cameras on our phones are so dang advanced, and because of this, and so many other reasons, it’s why my iPhone has become my go-to for capturing family life.
1. Always Ready for Action: My boys are like little Tasmanian Devils – one minute they’re building a fort, the next they’re wrestling on the floor. With my phone always in hand, I never miss a beat. Trying to grab my DSLR? Forget about it. By the time I get back, the moment’s gone. Poof!

2. Freedom to Capture Everywhere: No more lugging around heavy equipment. My phone goes everywhere with me – school drop-offs, park adventures, even (let’s be honest) the occasional bathroom break. This means I’m capturing all the little moments, not just the perfectly posed ones.

3. Edit on the Go (Yes, Even on the Throne!)
Let’s be honest, who has time for hours of editing on a computer? With Lightroom Mobile, I can edit photos right on my phone. It’s perfect for those stolen moments – waiting at the doctor’s office, during a quick bathroom break (multitasking at its finest!), or even while enjoying a quiet cup of coffee.
4. iPhone Quality is Insane: Remember when phone cameras were just okay? Yeah, those days are LONG gone. The quality these days is incredible. I’ve been printing my phone photos since the iPhone 4 (!!) and they look amazing!

5. Simplicity is Key: For me, the best photos are the simple ones. There is beauty in the mundane. With my iPhone, I can capture the raw, unfiltered magic of family life without the pressure of getting the “perfect” shot.

So, there you have it. My iPhone has become my secret weapon for documenting my family’s adventures. It’s easier, more convenient, and allows me to capture life as it truly unfolds. You can see more of my Family Album HERE

Hey, I’m Aniya (Ah-Knee-Ya) – the ultimate empath and storyteller.
That’s a weird combo, isn’t it?
Kind of, but not really.
I have strong feelings about pretty much everything. And because of this, I know the value of a moment that needs to be photographed.
My clients have coined me a “Connection specialist”, and I’ll happy take that.
Whether I’m photographing your wedding, your family, or your awesome self in my studio, I’m feeling your feels, and making damn honest, beautiful photographs for you.
