Rediscovery.

“I never knew that the face in its natural state could be so picturesque.” – Ms. B

These were the words of Ms. B after she saw her photos.

Come here, let me tell you a secret. Have you ever noticed the photos you love the most, are the “candid’ ones? The ones where you aren’t trying too hard, or you haven’t been told, “ok SMILLLLEEEE!”

Do you know why you love those photos of yourself the best? It’s because someone has photographed you when you are in your most comfortable state. Your muscles have relaxed, and there’s no tension in your eyes, your mouth, or your lips. You, are being you. And this is the most beautiful state that you’ll ever be in. This, my friend, is why people are drawn to candid pictures of themselves. You aren’t hiding behind a filter or lack of self-confidence or an idea of what you “should” look like. There’s nothing more beautiful than you, being simply, who you are…

But here’s a wee little secret. My sessions are the farthest thing from candid.

I am not a fly on the wall, and I never leave my clients to figure it out on their own. My superpower is getting my clients in that natural state that Ms. B raved about. We talk, we connect, but there’s just so much more to getting my clients to the space where they feel safe with me. Safe enough to show me who they are, naturally.
