
If I’m going to be real, I missed the hell out of documenting families. The honest moments, the couch covers that “should-have-been-removed-because-company’s-coming-over”, but weren’t, putting on lipstick for said company.
I know we’ve been taught that family photography as to be the wonderfully curated moments of pure happniess. And while I completely dig this, and there is a time and a place for it..
When I look at my family photographs, not one of the hundreds of photos are posed. Not. One. But I can feel the memory, I can hear the laughs, I can smell the air, feel exhilaration, joy, happiness and even sadness.
because it was my life I remember – and Im so thankful for my parents for prioritizing us in their photos.
Ami and her family came to Barbados from Trinidad to work and play. Ami is the most incredible tattoo artist – and of COURSE I made sure I was in line for her work! After she inked me up with the most BEAUTIFUL tattoos, I photographed her family, and I felt like incredible. It’s been sometime since I documented a family, and it was amazing.

Tattoos are my timeline. I play tennis, read vehemently, and travel the world. Sensual, empathetic, ex-criminologist, pretty good Italian speaker. Slightly irreverent. Terrified of white lizards and frogs. Kids and elders are my storytellers.
