Summer Wedding in Italy | Isabella and Kekko
There is nothing like a summer wedding in Italy. The days are long, the breeze in the hills is strong, and family and food are the names of the game.
We started off the day at the bride’s family home in the city of Torreglia, a quaint town surrounded by breathtaking hills outside of Padova, Italy. In Italy, traditions are strong, and it’s all about “la famiglia”. Once she was finished getting dressed, we headed out into the living area where she was greeted by cousins, aunts and uncles, and most importantly, her father. Seeing him for the first time was nerve-wracking, because he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. She didn’t know if today would be a day where he doesn’t recognize his daughter, or if the universe would bring her a miracle, and he would see, really see his little girl in her wedding dress about to get married. It was a marvelous moment – he recognized her, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
The ceremony was held in ancient church that no longer operates as a church. The brick walls and the history that was ever present in this structure were astounding. And as the bride walked down that aisle to meet her groom, no one could contain their smiles. It was contagious.
As if the day couldn’t get any more beautiful, we made our way to a little restaurant, Ristorante Ai Ronchi, nestled between the lush green hills. The views were nothing short of spectacular.
And then the food came.
Anyone who has ever been to an Italian wedding knows that it’s about two things: family and food. And this wedding didn’t disappoint.
For the rest of the night, everyone danced the food away and danced some more.
It was an honor to document your love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
