Being a mom of 4 kids means there’s plenty of changes that happen on a rolling basis.
It’s a LOT to keep up with.
Here’s the latest.
My 19 year old is at university doing international relations, and now she wants to switch and go to law school.
And I’m hella happy for her.
(if you know Adi, you know she’s going to make a GREAT lawyer!)
It got me thinking about my own life. About how much I’d always gotten down on myself for not REALLY knowing what I wanted to be “when I grow up”.
Here are some things I saw myself doing:
A marine biologist
An anthropologist
A pediatrician
✈️ A pilot
⚖️ A lawyer
Heck, I’m still not sure what I want to be.
I am a photographer, and I LOVE my job, but I’m not sure I want to be clicking away for the rest of my life. Will I always love photography? Hell Yes.
But do I want to continue it as a job… If I’m being honest, I’m not too sure.
I was always envious of those who knew from the time of their own inception what job they wanted to spend their waking hours doing.
My brother wanted to be a doctor and he is. My daughter, Ella, dreamt of being a surgeon from the time she could speak – and so she’s on that path.
Lucky them
But we all haven’t been sprinkled with that lucky dust..
So many of us don’t know what we want to do with our lives at 40, 50 and beyond.
If you’re anything like me, your path isn’t straight, and it sure as hell isn’t narrow. It’s full of ideas, distractions, potential, small side roads to explore, curiosities:
we just aren’t a one-direction-kinda-people.
And this, my friend, is A-OK.
Here’s some advice you didn’t ask for, but I’m giving:
If you aren’t sure what you should do in life, it’s so easy:
Love gardening? Garden. Share your tips with the world. Someone needs your help.
Love to sew? Keep creating new designs. There are people who want your clothes.
Whatever it is that lights your fire, do that.
✨Vera Wang: She entered the design world at 41 after being a journalist.
She’s now the biggest name in Bridal Fashion.
✨Viola Davis was 43 when she had her first major acting role.
✨Samuel L. Jackson: Jackson was 46 when he made
his name in Pulp Fiction.
✨Morgan Freeman: Freeman was an Air force fighter pilot and decided to become an actor. He was 50 when his career took off.
✨Christoph Waltz: He was 53 when he got his first major
role in the film industry.
Don’t beat yourself (or your kids) up because you/they are still stuck on the “what do I want to be when I grow up” question.
A lot of us are in this boat..
DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU WANTED TO BE?
HIT REPLY, I WANNA KNOW!

Hey, I’m Aniya (Ah-Knee-Ya) – the ultimate empath and storyteller.
That’s a weird combo, isn’t it?
Kind of, but not really.
I have strong feelings about pretty much everything. And because of this, I know the value of a moment that needs to be photographed.
My clients have coined me a “Connection specialist”, and I’ll happy take that.
Whether I’m photographing your wedding, your family, or your awesome self in my studio, I’m feeling your feels, and making damn honest, beautiful photographs for you.

Tattoos are my timeline. I play tennis, read vehemently, and travel the world. Sensual, empathetic, ex-criminologist, pretty good Italian speaker. Slightly irreverent. Terrified of white lizards and frogs. Kids and elders are my storytellers.
Dancing is joy; justice is non-negotiable.
