You know when you meet someone and there’s a spark between you, and you just KNOW this is going to be epic?
This was Rona and Nathan.
I rolled up to the vast Holders House in St. James, and met Rona upstairs as she was getting ready. We hadn’t hugged in real life, so seeing her smile was like a ray of total sunshine! I couldn’t wait to photograph this gem of a human being. She was open and warm, and had just the most wonderful spirit. (It’s easy to see below what I mean!). Knowing Rona and Nathan, I knew their wedding was going to be fantastic.
We laughed like we’d known each other for years, and then, in the middle of our first chats, I stopped, and looked up. My breath was taken.
Her dress was hanging up between these elegant curtains, and it was one of the most stunning dresses I’ve seen. But more than just its shere gorgeousness, what made this dress so special, was that it was created for Rona, by the insanely talented Jaye Applewaite. Jaye has designed stunning wedding gowns for many clients I’ve worked with, so I’ve known her for years. She brings an intricate delicate feel to her wedding dresses, and each piece is unique and truly extraordinary. And this may be one of the most emotional moments for Jaye as a designer, because this dress was created for her sister, Rona.
Seeing Jaye help Rona into the dress they’ve spent months, meticulously piecing together, every stitch with its own intention, was something that stole my heart.
But then everything on this day made my heart flutter.
From Nathan’s face when he first saw Rona, to Rona just going with the flow, every step of the way, rain or shine. Under the umbrella, she laughed because she had just married her best friend.
This wedding was everything and more.
Rona and Nathan, your love, your story lit up every face there. The joy you share in each other’s company is truly inspirational.
Keep doing what you do.
It’s magic.
