“I need these photos for my business, but I want them to show who I am, not just what my business does. This is so important.” – Ms. L.

Let me just say from the outset, that this woman is one of the best people you will ever meet. If you’re lucky enough to be in her very small circle, you know what I mean. She is someone you want in your corner, because if you are a friend, you are a friend for life. It could be years since you’ve seen each other, but when you do, it’s as though no time has passed. This has been our friendship for the past 20+ years.

Ms. L owns BodyMekanix, a boutique Pilates and Movement Studio located in Salters, St. George in Barbados. Ms. S and her team use movement to help their clients relieve pain, regain strength and mobility lost through inactivity, injury, aging, or poor joint health. Honestly, my back can’t function without her! (go check her out now!)

A few years back, I did her branding photos, and it was great. It was what you’d expect from a typical branding session. From details of her studio, to Ms. L in action. And while it was a great way to get images for her library, it was time for a rebrand, so she came back my way. But this time, it was going to be a different photoshoot. A kind of an evolution. She made it very clear, that while we were shooting for her business, it was about her essence. She wanted to finally show her face, she wanted her clients to see who she was, her movement, her smile, her soul. Because all of this, was her business. She needed her people to connect to the real Ms. L and this session embodied every facet of her wonderful being.

For as long as I’ve known this absolute queen, and as well as I thought I knew her, I saw something different when I photographed her this time. It was a quiet confidence. A fierceness. But there was more. Perhaps she says it better:

>
It’s not so much confidence as it is a realization that we women are beautiful creatures even when we feel like we aren’t. It ooozes out of our pores and there’s nothing we can do about it, we are just amazingly beautiful.
— Ms. L

Thank you for putting your trust, and your business image in me.

Love you to the moon and back,

Aniya, xo

Tattoos are my timeline. I play tennis, read vehemently, and travel the world. Sensual, empathetic, ex-criminologist, pretty good Italian speaker. Slightly irreverent. Terrified of white lizards and frogs. Kids and elders are my storytellers.
Dancing is joy; justice is non-negotiable.
