When the photographer photographs a photographer (say that three times!): Barbados Boudoir Photographer

I have a routine. When I get in to the Studio, I switch on the air condition (very first thing I do!), grab my coffee, and sit down to look at my emails. This morning, something stopped me in my tracks:

I’m a photographer from Norway and I just stumbled upon your beautiful work and I can’t stop thinking about it. I know this is a long shot but I was wondering if you have any sessions available when I’m there for a boudoir shoot?”

At that moment, I knew whatever my calendar said, I was going to clear it for her. It’s one thing when someone travels to you for a session, but that crazy awesome feeling is amplified when it’s a photographer. I was excited, and nervous, and pumped, and full of butterflies. Enter the IG stalk (you know we all do it!)

I saw her work, and I was floored. Helene is a family, newborn and wedding photographer in Norway, and her work is phenomenal. My words won’t do it justice, just head on her to her page HERE to see for yourself!

When Helene walked through the door, it was as though I’d known her my entire life. We talked about vacations, Norway, life, kids, and of course, our work as photographers. We opened up to each other about some hard topics, and we just became friends.

But more, we laughed. We giggled, felt silly, and found humor in EVERYTHING. From gummy bears, to caves (iykyk), it was a day of complete joy.

Helene, I am profoundly grateful you came my way. That you took time from your family, from your vacation to see me, and to create these incredible works of art. Thank you for giving your all, and for giving me the permission to see and photograph you.

Till we meet again, my friend.

Aniya, xo
