Harry & Andie: Wedding at The Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant, Barbados

I met Harry and Andie, two pilots, one morning as they got off from their shifts. Tired as they were from literally, flying around the world, it was like we just got together for brunch. We laughed about everything, and to be honest, we didn’t talk much about their wedding.

And.. Yes, it was a meeting about wedding photography.

But here’s the most amazing thing about my clients, they know that the most important thing about their wedding, isn’t their wedding. I know, I know, it sounds strange.

Of course they’re looking forward to the party, but more? They know the thing that trumps all else – is the marriage. Not the wedding.

Whatever happens on the date they chose to solidify their commitment to each other, it’s all good. My clients truly value moments over poses. Isn’t that how it should be?

So when I photographed Andie and her dad brushing their teeth together, they didn’t stop and run away.

When the tide rolled in and washed over Andie’s wedding shoes, she laughed.

When Andie’s dad walked her down the aisle and forgot to stay with her when the pastor was talking to her, they all giggled.

Photographing your wedding means telling the story of the day.

It doesn’t mean perfection – it means being authentic and honest.

Because in 30 years, you will feel your wedding photographs.
